On Monday, June 19th, over 200 local business and community leaders gathered at Tekoa Country Club to socialize, play golf, and support Summer Camp programming and scholarships at the West Springfield Boys & Girls Club. Participants enjoyed the warm weather, the course, and a variety of unique events, contests, and raffles. Thanks to the generosity of the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers that made this event possible, we raised over $90,000, making this summer at the Club one to remember!

The day began with delicious breakfast sandwiches donated by Partner’s Restaurant, before 24 teams took off for an 8:00 AM shotgun start. The afternoon flight began at 1:00 PM after a lunch from Texas Roadhouse, sponsored by Precision Auto, Northstar Network Group and Teddy Bear Pools and Spas. The 34 teams in the afternoon flight also enjoyed grinders donated by Sorrento’s Restaurant, and the evening wrapped up with a cocktail hour and raffle prize drawing. Contests on the course included closest to the pin and hole-in-one challenges for men’s and women’s divisions, a par 3 challenge sponsored by Love, Tito’s, and an all-new “Back-Off Challenge,” where contestants tried to take their shot while being roasted by comedian Steve Nagle.

For over a decade West Springfield Boys & Girls Club has operated a summer camp from June to August, serving up to 150 children each week between the ages of 6 through 13. Summer camp activities include arts and crafts, sports, swimming, tech classes, field trips, and more. Additionally, we address the issue of summer learning loss through our Summer Brian Gain program, a series of week-long modules with fun, project based learning experiences. Our summer camp provides essential opportunities for local youth to experience recreation, comradery, outdoor skills, and educational resources, with programs designed to get campers moving their bodies, experiencing new ideas, and making lifelong friends from a wide variety of backgrounds. The funds raised by this tournament will allow youth who may not otherwise have access to these experiences to enjoy a summer filled with fun, friendship, and memories.

Our thanks go out to everyone who participated in, volunteered at, or sponsored this tournament! You’ve helped make this summer incredible for so many children.
