Over 300 guests arrived at the Springfield Country Club on Friday, September 8th, ready to experience a night of fun, glamour, and charity. With live DJ music from Visual Sound Productions, a stunning backdrop donated by Alpha-Lit, delicious food and drinks from 21 different vendors, and incredible prizes available at both the live and silent auctions, this was our biggest and brightest Flutes & Flavors Fundraiser yet! Guests sampled beers from top local breweries like One Way Brewing and Two Weeks Notice, and tried tasty tidbits like Mediterranean nachos from Nadim’s, chowder from Celery Stalk, and sushi from Crazy Seafood. For dessert, vendors such as Cerrato’s Pastry Shop and The Sugar Chalet had something sweet for everyone.
State Representative Mike Finn and Senator John Velis teamed up to run the live auction, which was sponsored by West Side Bar & Grill, Alden Medical, New Valley Bank, bankESB and Comcast. Prizes included a package of Green Monster tickets and a pre-game tour, a week’s stay at a cottage in South Chatham, an ever-popular opportunity for dinner at the fire house, golf packages, beautiful jewelry, and a “Barbie Party” for 8 at the West Side Bar & Grill. Meanwhile, bidders in the silent auction competed to win the opportunity to create their own menu items at Sorrento’s Pizza and Nutrition First, beautifully hand-made items like a custom-etched humidor and a carved wooden cribbage board, and a custom pet portrait from KJ’s Novelty – the last of which sparked an intense bidding war!
Thanks to our amazing sponsors, vendors, auction prize donors, volunteers, and generous guests, the event raised over $70,000 towards Club programming and scholarships, making this the most successful Flutes & Flavors fundraiser ever! These funds support our life-changing programs, providing scholarship funding for children and families in need, and supporting the supplies, equipment, and building upkeep needed to continue to offer high-quality Before & After School care to all youth – but particularly those who need us most.
